Meeting in Las Vegas, the commission appointed Herb Dean to referee UFC 189’s main event between featherweight champ Jose Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) and Conor McGregor (17-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC). John McCarthy will work the co-headliner featuring welterweight champ Robbie Lawler (25-10 MMA, 10-4 UFC) and Rory MacDonald (18-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC). It was a landmark moment in cinema history, UFC 189 takes place July 11 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Matt Brown will fight at UFC 189 after all, just not against Nate Diaz. The UFC announced on FOX Sports 1's America's Pregame show that Brown is slated to collide against streaking welterweight Tim Means at the July 11 pay-per-view, which takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A pair of welterweights looking to get back in the win column will meet at UFC 189 in Las Vegas when Brandon Thatch (11-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) takes on John Howard (22-11 MMA, 6-6 UFC). Thatch vs. Howard joins a lineup that will see two championship bouts take place with featherweight champion Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor and welterweight titleholder Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald.

Henry Briones (16-4-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will meet Cody Garbrandt (6-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC 189. The UFC’s July card in Las Vegas continues to grow with the addition of a new bantamweight bout. Briones, from Mexico, came to the UFC from Legacy FC and he had a successful debut in front of his home country at UFC 180 in Mexico City this past November. Garbrandt, an Ohioan who most recently has been training with Team Alpha Male in California, won his UFC debut earlier this year at UFC 182 in Las Vegas when he stopped Marcus Brimage with a TKO with 10 seconds left in the fight.

Aldo is No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings, and McGregor is No. 6. Lawler is No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA welterweight rankings, and MacDonald is No. 3. Aldo is No. 2 on the pound-for-pound list, while Lawler is No. 8.
